Why submit to Google?

Google Sitemap allows webmasters to list every page in a website and to keep Google upto date when each individual page changes.
Most other submission methods only allow for submission of the home page of your website. It then takes Google a relatively long length of time to work its way through the links on your site to find all the pages. Google Sitemap, shortcuts this delay and instantly informs Google of every page you want listed.
How does Google Sitemap work
Firstly you will need an account with Google Sitemap. Once this is open, you will need to make some changes to your website to verify that you are the owner or webmaster of your site.
Once verified, you need to construct an XML file containing the sitemap of your website, in a particular format.
The sitemap file is then placed within your website, although not included in the public site, it can then be read by Google. Google will then spider and list each page in the website that's listed in the XML sitemap.
